NERIS, the National Emergency Response Information System, is the national system for fire and emergency incident data that is replacing NFIRS.
This month Ontones reached a milestone we've been working toward: Ontones is a NERIS integration partner, listed on the NERIS Integration Partners page.
Here's what that means for departments on Ontones. Your officers build local fire incident drafts in Ontones the day of the call, with guided fields for the incident number, department, kind, time, location, and units. The draft stays in your workspace. Once your department is enrolled, you file that fire incident to NERIS from the Ontones web app. Same draft, no retyping. Saving a draft never files it on its own; you decide when it goes to NERIS.
Update, October 12: enrolled departments can now file fire incidents to NERIS from the web or the Ontones iOS app. Until your department is enrolled, keep filing the way you do today.
None of this changes the core of Ontones: your department's roster and apparatus, plus incident reporting, in one place for chiefs, officers, and 911.
If you'd like a look for your department, request access at ontones.com or email hello@ontones.com. You can also call 540-216-2934. Send us your email and one or two officers, and we'll set up your workspace from there.
